My life has changed so much in the past 3 years from my days working back at home saving up to travel to moving to China to teach English for the past nearly 2 years. As my life has changed so have my priorities and if I'm honest with myself I must admit travel blogging is no longer one of them...

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, Facebook and still occasionally jump on over here to see my latest post you will have noticed that for a few months now I’ve been rather silent. It’s not that I don’t love you all anymore, on the contrary I have the most amazing readers who have always been there waiting when I get back from the blog hiatuses I frequently take. So as I love you all it pains me to give you this news, after nearly 3 years of running this blog I’ve found I’m tired, jaded with travel blogging, I’ve lost the passion and I’m now moving in other directions, other exciting directions. What does that mean for this blog? Well i’ll be putting it on hiatus, for how long I’m not yet sure.

I’ve been feeling like this for a while, hence the lack of posts on here. No words were coming out worth sharing so I figured why post crap just for the sake of posting, I the last thing I ever wanted to become was ‘that’ blogger. I also didn’t want to put my feelings about travel blogging down in writing because that would mean finally admitting to myself just how I really felt, the travel blogging spark had just gone out!

That being said I’m not giving up entirely, I’m certainly not closing down this blog it’s got so many fantastic articles from guest posters not to mention it’s a time capsule of the last nearly 3 years of my life, also I will most likely post links to any travel related posts I do end up writing. I may at some point in the future re-launch the magazine which really has been an overwhelming success, far more then I ever could have dreamed. Unfortunately it’s a lot of work and I just don’t have the time required to really dedicate to it at this point in my life.

For those of you who I just heard sigh when you read this don’t worry I haven’t given up on writing. In fact the decision to take a break from this blog was driven by my desire to develop my writing, to become a better writer and to explore some new writing avenues including freelance and working on some book projects. I also wanted the freedom to write about a much broader range of topics, what can I say I’m a girl with a lot to say! So for those who enjoy my rambles I do have some good news for you, I’m still writing! I launched a new China blog “Shanghai Novice” back in February that is a both a cultural and satirical look at life in China and thus far it’s grown quite a following more then I ever could have imagined in it’s short lifespan!

More recently I launched a personal blog “Evolution of a Dreamer” this blog is about anything and everything in my life including travel! It’s the most honest and personal you will ever see me write, every-word is a little piece of myself I share with the entire world. Maybe just maybe you might find something you relate to in my stories about life, dreams, failing, success, motivation, dating and all that other stuff twenty-somethings do!

But are you still travelling?

Of course! Travel is still my one true love! In fact this year I’ve fulfilled two travel dreams. 1. to do a hill tribe trek in northern Thailand (4 days, 70km) which was one of the most moving travel experiences I’ve ever had and 2.To go to inner Mongolia, ride a Mongolian horse, sleep in a hurt and ride a camel through the desert. I’ve also been lucky enough to see more of China, I spent nearly a week hiking in rural Fujian province an area foreigner’s scarcely visit but one of the most stunning areas I’ve seen in China (and I’ve seen a lot of stunning places in China!). I also just got back from a trip to Thailand and Laos (I drove through the flood waters in Bangkok on 3 occasions, it’s mental!) My next trip will most likely be to the Philippines and then probably Myanmar to volunteer teach for a few months next year and then who knows, I hear a life in Bangkok calling…You’re just going to have to keep an eye on twitter to see where I’m off to next!

Where can we read your travel tales?

I’ll be writing about my experience of travel, how it changes me and what I learn from it on my new blog. You won’t see top 10 lists or travel advice it will be purely story telling and if you get something practical out of it then fantastic! I’ll also be freelance writing for some other online publications so expect to hear my most adventurous stories elsewhere around the web.

I just want to say a big thank you to all my loyal reader’s who have always been there to read, comment and RT my posts. Also a special thanks to all my fantastic magazine contributors and guest posters. It is all of you that gave me the motivation to stick it out as long as I have! I hope you all will continue to follow my ever changing journey through life around the world!

Sasha

It was just recently I was trying to come up with a way travel bloggers particularly new bloggers could promote their new posts and share there stories with a greater audience by other means than twitter, stumble upon etc. And then had an idea. Inspired by the “Travel Bloggers” group on Facebook I thought why not start a Facebook group where people could share their latest travel related links, hence I created the Travel Bloggers Chronicles group on Facebook. But I didn’t want to stop just at creating a group I wanted to come up with something that would both promote and enhance the SEO of travel blogs by providing more links in. I wanted to create a website that would do just that. Just one week after launching the Facebook group TravelBlogChronicle.com is here!

l

What is it?

Travel Blog Chronicle is a social bookmarking website that allows users to submit their travel related stories to feature in any of 5 different categories: Travel Tips, Destinations, Volunteering, Culture and Working Holidays. Each submitted article has a short description with the title linked back to the original URL. When the story titled is clicked readers are redirected to the original post.

l

How do I submit my story?

Click on the “Submit Story” button on the top navigation bar and you will be redirected to the 3 step story submit.

Step 1: Submit the story URL.

Step 2: Choose your category, write a short description and add tags.

Step 3: Review your posting and if your happy with it hit the submit button. Your post will now appear in the new story page.

Rules: Please only submit travel related posts from blogs ONLY. Only one post per blog per day is permitted, this is to ensure things are fair and that one blog doesn’t take up the whole stream. Blogs can be both a personal blogs or a corporate blog such as a tour operators blog. However if you are a corporate blog please do not submit posts in regards to specials, deals or other promotional material, this website is strictly for stories or informative, helpful articles. If these rules are broken your submission will be removed by admin.

l

Get social!

Travel Blog Chronicle is more than just a listing and a place to promote your stories it’s also a place to interact with the travel blogging community! Users can vote for stories, comment on them and even create groups around a common interest for example Living in Bangkok or Round The World Travel. Be a good user, share the love and vote for the stories you like, the most popular stories will feature on both the popular and home pages.

l

Who can join?

Anyone can join, you don’t have to be a blogger to submit stories. You can submit stories from any travel blogs around the bloggersphere providing the story hasn’t already been submitted. And remember it’s not just about submitting, it’s about getting social, voting, commenting and discussing!

l

More exciting features to come!

This is the first time I’ve ever created a CMS website so subsequently there are going to be a few teething problems over the next couple of weeks. Over the next couple of months I’ll be working on integrating the website with Facebook and Twitter giving you the ability to log on using those accounts. I’ll also be adding a feature so that all new stories will be posted onto the Travel Blog Chronicle twitter account @TBlogChronicle. Soon I’ll be adding a contact form feature, currently If you need to get in contact you can email me at info(at)travelblogchronicle.com. I also want to add more user features with more comprehensive profiles that will include a short bio and links to any social networks as well as an award system for the best users.

l

So what are you waiting for sign up now and start promoting your travel blog!

l

I love writing, I always have. When I was young I wrote stories about green aquatic people with pixie ears, in high school when I was a bit emo I wrote poetry and as an adult with a travel problem I started writing about travel. That’s how this blog started, that’s how I ended up with a online magazine and that’s how I ended up just recently launching a new Shanghai lifestyle website, Shanghai Novice. Now when I put that all down in writing it looks like I’m some multitasking superhuman I WISH! Don’t get me wrong I’m a hard worker with a lot of ambition but what I’m not exceptional at is multitasking. If only I could be more like Vishnu then all my multitasking issues would be solved!

I recently saw a picture of Vishnu the Indian God and couldn’t help but be jealous, Vishnu has four arms! As a travel/culture/lifestyle blogger I often find myself stretched pretty thin. My mind is never quite sure what section it should be thinking in, the travel, the lifestyle or the culture section. Then is the other complication, what I do for a living. Yes people I have a paying job, well three of them to be precise, I teach primary school, kindergarten and do freelance graphic design so there’s three more things to worry about! But it gets worse! I’m also a university students. Yes between taking all those ‘Gap Years’ I never actually had the time to get myself a degree. Now I don’t for a minute regret travelling instead of slaving away at Uni for three years but China made me realise that if I ever want a good job or working visa for any other country other then Australian then I need a degree. So that’s how at 22 I ended up going to University in Australia all without leaving my couch in China! (Oh the beauty of online learning!)

Back to Vishnu. So with all these things I have to consume my time (and that doesn’t even include partying) I was thinking how great it would be to have four arms! That’s four hands to type with! How much better would my blog be if I could multitask on divine levels, get those posts scheduled up so no one ever again would have to land on my homepage and think “look how slack she is, she hasn’t updated for 6 weeks!”

But having four arms requires responsibility, it is a gift that should be used wisely. So after giving this four armed business careful consideration I’ve figured out just how I would delegate my four hands. One would be dedicated to writing On UR Way posts, the next dedicated to editing the Online Magazine, the next would be dedicated to writing and editing for Shanghai Novice, the next would be dedicated to finally editing all the film I’ve captured on my travels, the next…oh wait Vishnu only has four hands, dammit I need one more to check my emails then I’m done with the arms. No wait! I forgot I still have to get paid! Oh why couldn’t I be an Indian God who could grow extra arms as needed!

It would be rude of me to simply be envious of Vishnu for all his arms, after all Vishnu is a God with feelings. There’s a lot more to be envious of then merely having four arms because Vishnu gets to do some pretty awesome things that I’m equally envious of.

As Vishnu…

…you can enjoy a lovely foot massage while taking in the stunning sea scenery, hey this could be the Mediterranean or this could be Thailand, I’m not fussy!…

…you could hang out at waterfalls in Brazil, Tahiti, Zambia and Canada when ever you wanted! Who doesn’t love the sound of waterfalls!…

…you could fly wherever and whenever you wanted, no buying tickets, no waiting in line at customs and no spending money!…oh and you get to hang out with elephants!

So I’ve realised I’m not jealous of all of you on your round the world trips, I’m jealous of a much diviner being, the four armed, multitasking master, travelling, free foot massage receiving Vishnu. If only I was Vishnu I could be a travel/culture/lifestyle blogging queen!

*Ok maybe I wouldn’t want snakes coming out of my head head…unless I could delegate them some tasks, I know, they can teach the 3 year olds!

As a blogger, traveller, or worker do you sometimes wish you could be more like Vishnu? How do you deal with multitasking, how do you stay on top but most of all stay sane?

In 2003 my home city of Canberra was ravaged by terrible bushfires that destroyed entire suburbs and left the whole city in shock. Everyone in the city was somehow affected by the fires whether they lost a home/property or knew someone who had. After that terrible disaster Australia and the world came together in aid of the Canberra bushfire victims, now in 2011 Australia has been hit by another natural disaster that calls for the same compassion and generosity that was given to my home city all those years ago.

Over the past few weeks Queensland has been battered with severe rain and extreme flooding destroying homes and devastating entire communities. Many families have lost everything, people are missing and sadly bodies continue to be discovered.

You can support the victims of the flood by donating to the Queensland Premiers Flood Relief Appeal. For those who have travel blogs I’ve designed a 468×60 banner that links directly back to the Queensland Governments Flood Relief Page that you can add to your blog to spread the word and lend your support.

Copy and paste the HTML code below to use the banner on your website. Any problems just leave me a comment in the comment box.

If you stalk me on twitter or facebook you will probably have noticed that I slackly haven’t posted the last few weeks. I could give you a grand excuse like I’ve been on the beach tanning in Qingdao, or that my brain no longer functions because I spend most of the day speaking to two year olds, all true of course but the real reason is that I’ve been stuck in a sleepy haze of writers block most likely attributed to all Shanghai’s nightlife I’ve been sampling the last 6 weeks! But don’t worry I’ll be back to posting my latest ramblings, reminicing about my travels around China and occasionally giving you some useful information.

Now I know of course a lot of you are waiting in eager anticipation for the next magazine issue which is ridiculously behind schedule and I promise it will be out soon. I had a decision to make, try and rush to finish it in the very little free time I have or take my time to produce something of quality like all you readers have come to expect. And trust me the 3rd issue is jam packed with great articles about some really interesting places written by very talented contributors. And I know how all of you love pretty pictures so much, so this issue will feature more photography then any of the previous magazines!

While I haven’t been posting much on here I’ve been featured all over the web so If you feel you need an On UR Way fix or just generally maybe read and interesting story, learn something useful or just dispel your boredom at work then check out the following articles and interviews.

Turning Chinese

I recently did a guest post for Steph of Twenty Something Travel about how I’ve integrated into Chinese culture and possibly turned just a little bit Chinese. You should at least check it out to see the pic of what a really nice squat toilet looks like, once you see that you will never want to sit on a toilet again!!!

Bitten by the Travel Bug

I was honoured to be interviewed by Andy Hays of Sharing Travel Experiences, the web’s number one online travel lifestyle magazine. Andy didn’t give me the straight forward easy questions I was expecting, he gave me questions that forced me to really think, it gave me more of an insight into myself and I’m sure it will give you more of an insight into why I travel and the things I love.

Expat Life: Living and Working in China

Unless you have just stumbled upon this site or have been living under a rock for the past 8 months then I’m sure you’ve figured out (from all the China related articles) that i’m living and working in China as an ESL teacher. I chatted to the gang at Travel With a Mate about the highs and lows of living and working in China and all the reasons why I started and continue to travel.

10 Great Travel Blogs You Should Read

On UR Way Travel was featured as one of Trav Addict’s “10 Great Travel Blogs You Should Read”. While you’re there check out all the other great blogs that were listed!

Travelholics, you know the type and chances are if you’re reading this your one of them. They’re the people constantly surfing the web for travel blogs and travel inspiration, gazing longingly at the flight deals displayed in travel agengy windows, forgoing that expensive caramel macchiato for a flat white and staying in instead of going out just to squirrel away the extra cash. They are the people tubing down the Mekong in Laos, teaching English in some far corner of the world or sitting in a hostel common room scheming how best to stretch their cash. They can’t help but talk about travel whether it was their last trip, their current trip or their next trip. They’re the people who live for travel, who are constantly planning their next travel adventure, even when there still travelling! This is me and this is most likely you too!!!

But just like ice cream comes in many different colours and delicious flavours travelholics also come in many different wonderful forms. These are the four groups I’ve either at one point been a member of or have come across in my daily life and travels.

l

The Holidayer

The Holidayer, is the Travelholic who travels more often on a short term basis, from as little as 2 days up to 2 months. These people love to travel and whenever they get the chance to they take it whether it be weekend trips, public holidays or annual leave. These people have lives they’re committed to at home like a family, job or mortgage or simply just can’t afford to travel the longterm dream. They may even be so travel obsessed that they can’t even contemplate depriving themselves from any trips at all for a couple of years just to save up for a big year long trip! You will find The Holidayer perusing the newspaper and internet for the latest cheap flight deals, watching travel shows for more holiday inspiration and religiously reading travel magazines. The Holidayer get’s the best of both worlds, the trill of the new that is travel and the comforting, cosy life that is having a home.

This was me for 3 years, obsessed with travel but without the funds or the time between work and study to feed that obsession longterm. So to stop myself from going travel crazy I would work, save up my money and go on a 1-2month holiday. I’m sure had I not taken those trips I quickly would have gone insane!

Creative Commons License Photo Credit: jurvetson

The RTWer

The RTWer is commonly a Gap Yearer or Career Breaker often taking a year long break in their lives to explore the world. For them this may be the opportunity to break free of the stagnant, routine lifestyle of work or study to experience the fluidity of world travel. RTWer’s are often enthusiastic, adventurous and spontaneous and looking to get the most experiences and the most destinations out of their year around the world. A RTWer’s was likely in the past a Holidayer who gotten bitten by the travel bug on a holiday and now needs a long treatment of travel to sooth the symptoms. They will attend many Travelholic meetings mainly in common rooms in hostels all over the world getting the most recent tips from travellers they meet on the road and the blogs they spend hours perusing. This person very likely worked their arse off to afford this trip and may be at times quite stingy, but I’m sure not too stingy to buy the occasional round of beers for all their new RTWer friends!

l

The Longterm Traveller

The Longterm Traveller is very clealry a Travelholic with very apparent symptoms, they just can’t stop travelling! This is the person who probably started out at a RTWer only to find they loved the lifestyle so much they didn’t want the year to end! They do what they do what they can to keep travelling, work casual jobs, teach English, work for their accommodation, stay with friends, couchsurf and maybe even bust out their hidden musical talents to earn some extra dosh busking on the streets. What ever it takes to keep living their passion day after day they will do it!

Creative Commons License Photo Credit: heypeggy

l

The Expat

The Expat is the Travelholic who loves to experience life living in another culture. Not content with just travelling a country for a short time, The Expat wants to take it slow, learning about the people over time, travelling like a local, becoming a local. They may travel to the far corners of their adopted home taking in sights that don’t feature in travel guides thanks to an acquired local knowledge. They may decide to settle down in a country for many years soothing their travelholic desires for international travel by exploring the far reaches of their greater region. Expats love the nomadic lifestyle of travel but at the end of the day prefer to spend long enough somewhere to call it home, at least for a while!

The expat lifestyle for me was always just going to be a means to an ends to earn some money to travel. But finally living as an expat I see so much more to this lifestyle. I found I like having a home far too much and I love the local insight that you only get living life as an expat.

l

Now of course this is just an overall generalisation of Travelholics, after all, we do all come in different forms, it would be impossible to categorise us all and really why would you want to. At the end of the day the point is we’re all Travelholics and where all different, we all have different motivations for travelling, we all have different passions and interests when we’re travelling and we all travel in different styles. So surprise, surprise we’re not just travellers and we don’t all fit in this nice neat little traveller box or indeed four travelholic boxes. One fundamental thing we all are and have in common, we are all people who LOVE travel! And really at the end of the day is a ‘traveller’ not just a person who wants to see and experience the world!

What kind of ‘Travelholic’ are you? Have you like me been a different one at different stages in your life?

At this point in time I’m sitting in my apartment on the 8th floor of a high rise overlooking the Xujiahui skyline sluggishly writing this post after yet another big night out on the Shanghai town!

If you follow me on twitter you may have noticed that I have been rather absent from the social media scene for the past couple of months, which means mission success going incommunicado to travel! From July 2 up until the end of August I was backpacking around the amazing country that is China focusing predominately on the south. Below my travels in a nutshell.

I went to 12 different provinces where I visited approximately 15 different towns and cities.

I spent 88 hours on trains.

I spent 55+ hours on buses and even more catching busses in the wrong direction then back the right way!

I made countless new friends.

I got bitten by fleas in rural China.

I saw the most stunning sunrises from the summits of both Emei Shan and Huangshan.

I cruised the mighty Yangtze.

I kayaked down the Li River.

I was scammed on more than one occasion!

I learnt that I can live without my morning coffee.

At one time or another I travelled solo, with good friends or with my Dad who used me living in China as an excuse to finally come here!

So how incommunicado did I manage to stay while travelling? Well I couldn’t resist using the free wifi to check my emails but I did however manage to resist the urge to go on facebook and twitter. My plan of using the time on buses and trains to do work was an absolute fail, I spent most of that time sleeping and listening to my ipod!

Me on the summit of Huangshan!

What am I doing now?

So I’ve now been in Shanghai for about 2 weeks, most of that has been spent partying with my roommates (Shanghai night life rocks). As well as partying I have been teaching kindergarten, spending alot of time at the supermarket and even made a stop at ikea! It’s all been happening the last couple of weeks, I even had to take a last minute visa run to Hong Kong which despite the inconvenience was a great opportunity to do all the things I didn’t get to do when I was there 6 weeks ago!

So what can you expect from On UR Way Travel now that I’ve stopped travelling and am starting to curb back the partying?

I have so many stories and tips from travelling my adopted country China so keep an eye out for some exciting tales to come.

I’ll also be starting a new series “On the cheap, City Guides” The first one will either be Shanghai or Hong Kong. What would you like to see as the first city guide? Leave your comments below!

The 3rd issue of the magazine is rather behind schedule thanks to not getting any of the work done I intended to do whilst travelling. It will definitely be out before the end of this month. Yet again it will be jam packed with stories from amazing contributors as well as inspiring photography!

I’m tossing up whether or not to start an email newsletter. Is that something you would be interested in signing up to? Do you even read all the newsletter you are subscribe to already or are you like me and trash them straight away? Leave your comments!

If your travelling China soon and want tips on the culture or a destination chances are I can help you out so If I haven’t already covered it then leave a comment on what you would like to read about! This helps me decide what to post when!

A few months back I started a series called “World Experiences… You haven’t experienced (insert country name here) until you have…” I’d really like to get this series up and running, this is your chance to share your world experiences, getting to the real heart of a destination and it’s people. If you’re interested in contributing please drop me an email.

I’ve recently updated my fave sites page. Check out the awesome new additions, guaranteed good reads!

If your reading this chances are you will have noticed the whole new look for On UR Way Travel! Hope you like this new fun, young and funky design!!! Feedback is much appreciated. There are still a few bugs to sort out so if you notice anything a bit odd please let me know!

To all those people who have decided to travel to China in the next 12 months look me up, I’ll be sure to give you a tour of my Shanghai!

I want to say a big thanks to everyone who has continued to read my blog, leave comments and RT my posts. I really appreciate it and hope you continue to enjoy reading about my adventures and seeing all my pics!

I’m a self-confessed anti technology traveller who often goes incommincadoon the road. I don’t have an iphone nor have I ever seriously considered getting one and indeed until moving to China just this year I never had a laptop let alone travelled with one. It’s a good thing really that Santa never got me an iphone or blackberry for Christmas, as I wouldn’t be able to help myself but use it. It would make my life far too easy, it would be far too much of a temptation to update my status from some amazing place in an effort to try and make people jealous instead of taking the time to just enjoy the moment.

For me traveling has always been my chance to switch off from a technologically driven lifestyle. I’ve always relished my chance to travel and go incommunicado. When I’m stationary the Internet is addictive, a way to feed my travel obsession through writing my blog, reading others blogs and tweet chatting with other like minded people who like me are also nuts about travel. And although I love the connections I’ve made and the friendships I’ve formed (I really do love you twitter!) Travelling Sash and technology just don’t mix!

l

The proof is in the history…

When I went on my first trip abroad in 2008 I had grand plans to use the Internet to stay connected with my life back home on the cheap. I set up an online journal that was also connected to my international sim card so that every time I sent a text it would plot my location on a map (now I think about it rather intrusive and creepy). The idea was to remember my journey, and clearly the exact times I was at certain locations not to mention put my families mind at ease. Now that all would have been well and good had I’d actually used it!

I remember doing my first journal entry. I was sitting in the Contiki basement in London using the 1£/30 mins Internet to write what was clearly going to be my amazing online journal. After two months of travelling Europe that entry from my first day in London was my first and last entry for the entire trip! In fact the entire time I was in Europe I probably only used the Internet 6 times and at least 4 of those times was during my first week to check the weather (pointless when in England). Having a phone was almost pointless. I think the longest I went without replying to a txt was 10 days during my time in Greece and Albania, in all fairness to me I didn’t always have reception. But lets just say when I got home I had one not so happy mother.

My second trip to South East Asia in 2009 was scarcely any different. This time I didn’t even bother with an online journal, I knew I wouldn’t use it. I was there to travel, see things, experience things not waste all my time and money on the net! The last thing I wanted to do after a hot day’s sightseeing was sit in an Internet café and write about my day. Instead I favoured going back to my room, pumping up the air con and just letting it all flow out the old fashion way on paper with ink.

l

My Predicament

But now I’ve got myself into a predicament. I have a travel blog and magazine and despite not doing this writing thing for website hits and RSS subscribers I would still like to keep it up and running. I’ve put in far too much work to let it fizzle out all because I’m having too much fun without worrying about updating my blog and twitter.

So what’s this girl to do to not jeopardize her technology free travel lifestyle that she has thoroughly enjoyed in the past?…

Put wasted time to good use!

All those long train journeys will be put to good use documenting my adventures and typing up what has previously been penned in my notebook. It makes me feel better to think that I’m not wasting what could be valuable adventure time and instead using wasted transport time to get stuff done.

Above: My new office.

Get Organised

Having a reserve of posts scheduled to go out is really going to put my mind at ease. In the last few weeks leading up to my upcoming travels around China I’ve been madly typing up and editing all my adventures and stories from the past few months and getting them ready to post during the time i’ll be traveling and largely incommunicado.

Schedule Time

I’m going to schedule time each week to use the Internet and try to stick to it. Limiting my time on the internet and scheduling it at times that won’t get in the way of my travels at times when I will have easy access to wifi will keep me on my incommunicado track. This way I can keep at least a little up to date with the world and the goings on of my blog without being tempted to spend every evening using the wifi!

It’s all about balance

At the end of the day it’s all about balance. For me balance means spending the minimal amount of time on the net! Now of course if I was travelling for more than 6-8 weeks, then overall I would have to dedicate more time to getting on line, at the same time I wouldn’t be so confined to certain dates and doing certain things by certain times.

I’m Switching off as off the 2nd of July

I can’t wait to be able to switch off and go incommunicado at least for a little bit from the 2ndof July. Now I still will be present in the online world though certainly not everyday for hours on end and actually not every day for that matter! I relish the chance to sit back, relax and let the scheduled posts just roll out. Now maybe that makes me a bad blogger, but quite frankly I couldn’t care less. I’m about the stories, and there are only so many stories you can find in an internet café!

How do you balance your travel and online life? Leave your comments below.

What countries have you been to and where are you headed?

I have been to: UK, Scotland, Ireland, Israel, Croatia, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Belgium. This most recent trip has included: repeat visit to London, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, Romania and Poland. The trip will include stops in: Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt (hopefully), Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, France, Greece (Greek Islands), Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, back to Romania, Ukraine, Bosnia, Bulgaria and maybe Georgia and more.

Above: Dances with Brasov Pigeons

What’s the most unusual food you have come across on your travels?

Black pudding. I guess it is not unusual, but as an American, it was a first for me.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

Spain, hands down. The culture, the people, the sights, are all magnificent. I have been many places, but I felt a solidarity with Spain. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, but when I got there, something just felt right. There is an electricity in the air in Madrid and it just sparks something … at least it did for me. And I kinda sorta speak Spanish, which makes it easier.

By popular demand (and I mean by three people) I have added a new section to my blog called the “The Unlikely Adventuress”…Tales of a girl who at 16 was too scared to order her own food at McDonalds (thanks mum for doing it for me!) and now at 21 is living in China doing everything for herself!

This is the humorous (well that’s up to you) sarcastic side of my travels and adventures in my everyday life. If you’re expecting substance click the back button right now and read the rest of On UR Way Travel! This is me, the extremely tacky girl who has a tendency to rant about really random things! (just ask my poor friends!)

I bet you’re intrigued now!!! So strap in this could be a real bumpy ride (just like a really fun roller coaster minus all the twists, turns, upside down bits and hopefully vomiting because I ain’t providing no sick bag!)

Check out the first installment of The Unlikely Adventuress…My biff with shopping in China
