Travel Moment: An Evening in Chongqing

[ 1 ] April 18, 2011 | Sasha

Chongqing - Yangtze

Chongqing in China’s South West is the spicy capital of China.  But it’s not just the hot pot that this city is famous for, Chongqing is also the cruise gateway to the mighty Yangtze, the third longest river in the world.

llllllllllllllllllllllll

Chongqing was certainly not one of my favourite cities I visited on my 2 month backpacking adventure around the south of China. With seemingly scarcely much to do in the city and the temperature sitting at a sweltering 42°c all I wanted to do was hop on that cruise ship and cruise as far away from Chongqing as possible.  However by sunset despite the still uncomfortably hot temperature I could finally see Chongqing’s charm, the soft sunset glowing over this mighty river of legends, with those two bizarre golden twin tower’s standing like a proud trophy of this cities economic prosperity.  Though I was still pretty happy once that cruise ship finally set sail!
